Based on Morgan Labar’s research into the ‘golden age of the stupid age’ and the themes addressed by Extramentale, a platform created by Julia Marchand, the discussion strove to identify the figures of the ‘adolescent artist’ who appeared in the United States from the the late 1980s, as well as current responses in the field of young artists. While artists such as Paul McCarthy have made it possible to present infantile regression as an emancipatory perspective, we will also look at how ‘adolescent apathy’ rises up in response rises up in response to a so-called ‘adolescent’ society.
