The carnivalesque comprised of a series of lectures, performances and screenings organized at the Centre Pompidou during the Hors Pistes festival (15th edition).

Exploring carnivalesque forces, this day-long event addressed its contemporary iterations outside of the normative bodies (Paul B. Preciado and Jenkin van Zyl) and within an institutional critique that defines masquerade as a site of resistance (Mathis Collins, Esther Esther). It also outlined the conservative tone of a carnivalesque situated at the right end of the political spectrum (Claire Tancons with her lecture entitled Trumperies).
